Burial Service

“Verily, we belong to God and we will surely return to Allah.” (Qur’an 2:156)

moncton Masjid/moncton Muslim Association (MMA) is helping Muslim community with Islamic Burial (TADFEEN) for more than 15 years. This service is provided with collaboration with moncton Muslim Cemetery Trust. Here is the procedure and cost of funeral.

moncton Muslim Association provides complete funeral services, including:

• Washing the body (ghusl) and shrouding (Kafn) by qualified, experienced Muslims (females are handled by females only).
• Providing the Kafan materials (Islamic shroud).
• Offering Salat al-Janazah (Funeral Prayer) by one of our Imams
• Leading the burial process with a funeral sermon and dua on the grave.
• Hosting Majlis / Aza’ (condolences reception) for the deceased family can be requested by an individual.
• Caskets are provided by funeral home.

 

Procedure to follow:

If a loved one, family member, or friend has passed away, please follow the procedure below to request assistance with burial arrangements:

Transport of the body from the hospital to the funeral home:

We have a contract with the Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre for Muslim funeral services. Call them at 506-857-9544 and provide them with the necessary details. They will transport the body to the funeral home and inform the Masjid management.

Ghusal and Janazah Arrangemnet:

• Option-1: Send an email to info@monctonmuslimassociation.com with the information listed below.
• Option-2: Call moncton Masjid number 506-389-1209 and leave a voice message with the information listed below.
• Option-3: Contact moncton Masjid management and give them the information.

Information Needed:

• Name and phone number of person coordinating burial.
• Full name of the deceased
• Gender and Age of the deceased
• Full name of the closest family member of the deceased (e.g. Father, mother, brother or sister)
• Date of birth and date of death (needed for Gravestone)

Someone from moncton masjid Management will contact you for the details and timing of all things.

 

Costs:

1. Burial: $948.75 including HST for an adult. For a baby $474.36. Winter burial fee $300.
2. Funeral house services: $2,180 including HST. It is free if the age is less 3 years.
3. Monument (Gravestone or Katbah): $2,300.
4. Kufan: $150.

Total: approx. cost for an Adult: $5,578.75

Important notes:

• All the above payments are mandatory.
• Payment for burial and funeral home should be paid directly to them.
• Payment for kufan should be made to moncton Masjid.
• Payment of gravestone to be made to moncton Muslim Cemetery Trust.
• Gravestone or Katbah is a preselected style and format. Decision is made to keep it same for all in the sense of simplicity and equality. No custom gravestones are allowed. We are working with the companies to lower the cost of the gravestone.
